All About Charlotte Lit’s New Studio

As of October 2025, Charlotte Lit has a new home—a beautiful writing, learning, and community space in the Ascend Nonprofit Center, at the corner of 5th and Davidson, Uptown Charlotte. The studio will host most Charlotte Lit classes and literary arts events, and is also available for member use, as defined below. Parking is free! See the instructions at the bottom of this page.

Open Studio

Who: Everyone with an active membership.  [Check your status here]  [Join as a member here]

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

What: Come and spend time in the studio to read and write in community. Someone from the Charlotte Lit staff will be on hand.

How: The default condition for Open Studio is quiet / quiet-ish. Conversations should be at a low volume, but anyone has the right to request quiet. (Note that our office is inside the studio, making some background conversations likely.) Phone calls cannot be made when anyone else is present. We’ll usually be playing instrumental music, but do let us know if that interrupts your process. Beverages and snacks are available, along with a tip jar to help cover the cost. When you leave, please put things back where they were found, and use the trash and recycle bins.

Also Good to Know: Writers in Residence Office Hours sometimes overlap Open Studio. See below.
